Car Rental in Slovakia
You will need a driving licence, passport or accepted form of ID and a credit card. You can rent a car for around 40-60 Euros a day. These are just guidelines, so do check with the car hire company to clarify the cost and documentation needed.
Speed limits are in kilometres per hour, and are as follows:
- Highways: 130kph/80mph
- Outside Built-up Areas: 90kph/55mph
- Towns: 60kph/40mph
The standard of driving is not particularly good and is aggressive, with drivers often going too fast, squeezing into small gaps, tailgating and overtaking with little regard for others. Drive defensively and allow yourself some thinking time. Also, be wary of approaching cars overtaking on your side of the road.
