Getting to Norway
Flights to Norway will last for 2 hours 15 minutes.
Pets must be accompanied by their owner. If the number of animals exceeds 5 pets, conditions for commercial imports will apply. Dogs, cats and ferrets will need an EU Pet Passport. For small rodents, caged birds and rabbits you will need to obtain an import permit from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Animals must be identified by a microchip or tattoo and are exempt from quarantine regulations under the PETS scheme. Check with the airlines for their policies on transporting animals.
The EU Pet Passport contains information about the pet such as its owner, identification number and proof of vaccination against rabies. It is issued by the vet and valid for the life of the pet.
What is the PETS scheme?
The PETS scheme (Pet Travel Scheme) is an agreement which was made by several EU countries to allow the movement of pets between these countries free of quarantine regulations. Since its introduction, other non-EU countries which are free from the rabies virus have subscribed to the PETS scheme.
