Communications in Bahrain

Telephone

The country dialling code is 973. There are no area codes. Public phone booths are easily located, some accepting freely available phone cards and some coins. Facilities are provided for video conferencing, digital data networks, and mobile links.

Mobile Telephone

There are roaming agreements with a few international mobile phone companies. The coverage is good. Bahrain is covered by a GSM 900 and 1800 mobile phone network.

Voice over Internet Protocol

VoIP is a new technology which allows users to verbally communicate through their computer. Essentially a telephone call made using the internet, VoIP is becoming increasingly more common in the business world due to its low costs, and easy set-up and maintenance.

Airmail service to Europe takes between three and four days. The main post office is near Bab al-Bahrain in Manama. Reliable one-day international courier services operate in and out of Bahrain.
