To move to India permanently you'll need to contact the Bureau of Immigration and obtain a business visa, or an employment visa.
The visas necessary for a visit are tourist visas, student visas, transit visas, visas to missionaries, journalist visa, conference visa, depending on the reason for your stay. Tourist visas are issued for 6 months.
