Banking in Turkey

In order to open a bank account in Turkey you must first obtain a Tax number from the local Tax Office. To apply for a Tax number, you will need to present your passport and proof of your address in Turkey. It is also advisable to have a copy of your Residence Permit. When you have your Tax number you can open an account at any of the large Turkish banks.

To open a bank account, you are required to submit a copy of your passport plus one other form of ID alongside your tax number.

It should be noted that there is a nominal tax fee for establishing a bank account.
