Singapore Emigration
The rules to emigration in Singapore are rather intricate. Most will not need a visa in advance, but you are required to have return ticket, supporting documents, and sufficient money to cover expenses.
Nationals from the UK do not need a visa to enter Singapore if it is a business or social visit. However, if planning to stay there in employment then applicants must first secure a job offer then apply for an Employment Pass (EPEC) or Residence Permit.
Permanent residence is a rather meritocratic affair. The government requires you demonstrate that you are qualified or educated, therefore beneficial to the overall well-being and perpetuation of the economy. Annoyingly, the criteria can fluctuate and change in accordance with the needs of the economy.
The residency permit process requires the following documentation:
- Two application forms
- Passport
- Original Birth Certificate
- Two photographs
And, if applicable:
- Spouse's passport
- Marriage Certificate
