Banking in Sweden

Opening an account in Sweden is a very easy process. There are branches of major international banks and many of commercial banks located across the country. As in the UK, you can choose a different account for different purposes.

Generally, banks open from 1000-1500 Monday to Friday.

To open a bank account in Sweden, you are required to provide the following documentation:

  • Proof of residency
  • Form of ID (passport)
  • And tax number, available from any Post Office

Allegedly, Sweden has the highest rate of internet banking users in the world. All the major banks offer internet banking. Cash machines are widespread.
