Car Rental in Greece
You will need a driving licence, passport or accepted form of ID and a credit card. You can rent a car for around 25 Euros a day. These are just guidelines, so do check with the car hire company to clarify the cost and documentation needed.
Speed limits are in kilometres per hour, and are as follows:
- Expressways: 120kph/75mph
- Urban stretches: 110kph/68mph
- Dual carriageways: 120kph/75mph
- Outside built-up areas: 110kph/68mph
- Built-up areas: 50kph/30mph
The Greek drive on the right-hand side of the road.
In Greece, you'll find many roads that span three lanes: the middle lane is used for passing in both directions. If there is little room to pass on the road, fast drivers expect slow drivers to pull onto the shoulder in order to let them by.
Greece suffers Europe's worst accident rate in terms of the number of collisions per vehicle and red traffic lights are consistently ignored.
