Car Rental in the UK

There are a number of car rental companies in the UK. Drivers are required to produce a driving licence, photographic ID, and a credit card.Sat Navs are also commonly available for hire. Some companies charge a higher insurance excess for non-UK drivers.

If you want to hire an automatic car it is worth contacting the provider in advance, as automatic cars are not commonplace, with the majority of Brits preferring stickshifts.

Some major car rental companies include Budget, Hertz, Easycar and Europcar.

While much of Europe drives on the right side of the road, remember to drive on the left side of the road in the UK!

The UK has a good network of major highways, and cities, attractions and airports are well signed. However some of the smaller roads in rural areas can be quite windy and narrow, so be careful when taking blind corner and be prepared to give way to other drivers.
