Car Rental in the UAE

The renter must provide a credit card, passport and national or International driving license. You can rent a car for around 200-300 AED a day. These are just guidelines, so do check with the car hire company to clarify the cost and documentation needed.

Speed limits are in kilometres per hour, and are as follows:

  • Open Roads: 100-120kph/60-75mph
  • Urban Areas: 60-80kph/40-50mph

Drivers of Dubai drive on the right-hand side of the road.

An International Driver's Permit carried along with your national driving licence is recommended for driving in the UAE. Foreign licences are acceptable providing that you are a citizen or official resident of the country that issued the license. Always make sure documentation is carried with you at all times when driving. Police officers will expect to see documentation if they stop you for any reason.
