Telephone

Various services are available from a number of different providers. The country dialling code is 43.

Mobile Telephone

There are roaming agreements with most international companies. Coverage is generally considered very good.

Voice over Internet Protocol

VoIP is a new technology which allows users to verbally communicate through their computer. Essentially a telephone call made using the internet, VoIP is becoming increasingly more common in the business world due to its low costs, and easy set-up and maintenance.

Forget installation engineers and phone number changes, as long as you have a broadband connection, you can use VoIP any time, any where.

For businesses, this software is sure to eventually phase out the traditional phonecall. For as low as 4p for local and national calls, the economical potential is vast. With international calls often even less than that, VoIP is perfect if you are prone to long-distance telecommunication, or have offices, clients, partners, etc, overseas. What's more, calls made between VoIP users are typically free all you pay for is the standard internet service.

Internet

Internet is available throughout Austria. E-mail is vastly used in Austria and most companies have an email address. There are many internet providers who provide internet access with a variety of tariffs, including pay as you go, monthly fees with telephone calls and monthly fees without calls.

Post

Letters within Europe take between two to four days, and to the United States between four to six days.
Post offices are open Monday to Friday 0800-1200, and then again 1400-1800. Main post offices are open for 24 hours, seven days a week, including public holidays. Monetary transactions in all post offices are restricted: Monday to Friday until 1700, and Saturday 0800 until 1000.
