Communications in Guernsey
Communications in Guernsey are very similar to the rest of the UK.
Post
Only Guernsey stamps will be accepted on outgoing mail. Most areas get post delivered twice a day including Saturdays. Regular internal post is divided by first and second class. A first class letter is almost certain to reach its destination anywhere in the UK by the next day. Second class will likely take a day or two longer, but at a lesser cost.
International post can take anything between three days and one week.
Post office hours are similar to the rest of the UK.
Telephone
International dialling code is the same as the UK (44). The area code is (0)1481. Service is provided by Jersey Telecom.
Mobile
Mobile use is the same as the rest of the UK. You will find the usual service providers, like Vodafone and Orange.

Voice over Internet Protocol
VoIP is a new technology which allows users to verbally communicate through their computer. Essentially a telephone call made using the internet, VoIP is becoming increasingly more common in the business world due to its low costs, and easy set-up and maintenance.
Forget installation engineers and phone number changes, as long as you have a broadband connection, you can use VoIP any time, any where.
For businesses, this software is sure to eventually phase out the traditional phonecall. For as low as 4p for local and national calls, the economical potential is vast. With international calls often even less than that, VoIP is perfect if you are prone to long-distance telecommunication, or have offices, clients, partners, etc, overseas. What's more, calls made between VoIP users are typically free all you pay for is the standard internet service.
Internet
Over half the population use the internet and broadband is widely available.
