Banking in the Czech Republic

The Czech National Bank (CNB) is the central bank of the Czech Republic and is responsible for monetary policy. It is an independent institution. The CNB is governed by its banking board, which consists of seven members: the governor of the CNB, two vice-governors of the CNB, and four other senior officers. The governor and board members are appointed for terms of six years by the president; the decision on whom to appoint is made on the recommendation of the government.
