Car Rental in Finland

The renter must provide a credit card, passport and driving license. You can rent a car for around 25 - 35 Euros a day. These are just guidelines, so do check with the car hire company to clarify the cost and documentation needed.

Speed limits are in kilometres per hour, and are as follows:

  • Motorways: 100kph/62mph
  • Towns: 30-40kph/18-24mph
  • Major Roads: 80-100kph/50-62mph

The Finnish drive on the right-hand side of the road.

Driving in Finland in winter months can be hazardous. Snow tyres are required between December and February, and engine heaters are recommended. Vehicles must employ headlights at dusk, in the fog and whilst it rain. Headlights must be used at all times outside built-up areas (signed). You should expect to see elk and reindeer which frequently wander onto roads.
