NUANS Business Name Search. Federal Incorporation in Canada

Back to News

The very first step in incorporating a Federal Corporation with a name is to perform a NUANS Search.

We will show you how to make the search, how to make it right and to what to pay your attention during the search and while reviewing its results. The search process is simple and efficient, and the cost of a Federal NUANS report is just under $14. Please use the link below for your search. While reviewing the results please pay attention to the following potential issues:

a. Do not use your proposed ending – Ltd., Inc., Corp., etc., use only the name

b. Any identical name will not be allowed for a registration;

c. Similarly looking names for companies in non-related businesses will most probably be permitted for the registration, but an explanation will be required to show that it does not cause a confusion between two companies.

d. Federal corporation is authorized to conduct business across Canada – so NUANS search will show the names of companies across the country. e. Last pages of the NUANS search contain Trademark search – this is important to review the Trademarks as well since confusing company name will not be permitted. f. Once you have NUANS report it reserves the name for a registration for 60 days, if the company is not incorporated within this period of time, the report will expire, and you will need a new report.
