STARTING UP IN BRAZILGreetings from Sao Paulo. My name is Claudia and I would like to share some recent facts concerning the massive number of overseas companies starting up their business in Brazil. Most of the companies are services company: IT, finances, consultancy, telecom, logistics, marketing, sales offices for South America...  In the last few years, since Brazilian economy started to be noticed abroad as ´finally on a good track´, many foreign companies started to set up their offices in Sao Paulo, most important business city of South America: 12 million inhabitins and the most international city of Latin America. It is estimated that Brazil has about 1 million expatriates currently and 80% of them live in the State of Sao Paulo. Although the economy is stable, bureacracy and local business culture may be a problem to foreigners who come to do business in Brazil. As a big city in frank development, Sao Paulo has infrastructure problems: transportation ways and subways are still under construction to be able to connect main parts of the city. Housing is another problem. Once most of foreign companies are concentrated in the Southern of the city, there is a gap of furnished apartments and there may be some bureacracy to lease units. Suggestion: plan well ahead before coming to Sao Paulo. I have seen many executives coming to Sao Paulo without any information and they spend time and money to get set in town. My name is Claudia, I am a relocation & corporate housing specialist based in Sao Paulo. Bests to All Claudia G. claudia@gcanet.com
