Whitefield International has been working together with its sister company Globalista in taking European companies into Colombia and vice versa.

Colombia has followed a path of growth, development, and overall improvement in the past ten years. As a result, the country has become one of the most attractive and promising investment markets in Latin America.

In particular, Colombia has established itself as the ideal platform to enter Latin America. In the last two years, we have seen a growing interest in respect of the Colombian market from European companies and we want to share with you some of our experiences from different sectors and company sizes.

First, in the past 6 months, we have successfully established the first Latin America office in Colombia for one of our clients, a medium-sized Spanish innovation technology company specialised in semantic technology and artificial intelligence. We are now assisting the company expand into other Latin American markets. Beyond working with the senior management team to design the entry strategy, executing it and coordinating its installation in Medellin, our team has successfully established a network of local partners to boost our client’s activities in Colombia and other Latin American countries.

Second, throughout 2013 we have worked with a multinational company, which designs, manufactures and sells innovative and technologically sophisticated machinery. We have worked with them in identifying Colombia as the place to locate one of its plants in order to access the whole American continent. We have also identified the right area within Colombia to set up the plant and take advantage of the free-trade zone system. Furthermore, we identified the best suppliers and ran a selection process, based on the quality of the parts supplied. The installation phase is currently taking place.

Third, as a final example, it’s worth mentioning a French start-up introducing a new product to Latin America on behalf of a British brand. The company manufactures innovative technology for sophisticated intelligent access control and has also chosen Colombia as its entry point. Expansion to the rest of Latin America will follow. We have just formally set up a local entity for this French/British client and finalised last details for the executives who will move to Bogota next month.

If you are thinking of expanding into Latin America, we invite you to explore the Colombian option with us.
