Registering for VAT

Company Bureau can help you to attain a VAT number for your Irish company or sole trader. After incorporation, you should register to VAT right away. However, a company is only required to register for VAT once the company starts trading.

In Ireland, a company can register for 3 main tax types:

1. Corporation Tax
2. Value Added Tax
3. Employers PAYE/PRSI

Annual Returns

Corporate Tax Returns must be filed once per year and VAT returns generally every two months.

The first Annual Return for an Irish Company is due 6 months after incorporation, that becomes the annual return date and returns are then due annually. However, no accounts are required with the first Annual Return. Irish Companies are required under statutory legislation to file an Annual Return and Accounts each year with the Companies Registration Office in Ireland. If your company misses its annual return there can be substantial fines that will increase daily until the return is filed.
