Car Rental in Malaysia

You will need a driving licence or International Driving License. You can rent a car for around 150-250 RM a day. These are just guidelines, so do check with the car hire company to clarify the cost and documentation needed.
Speed limits are in kilometres per hour, and are as follows:

  • Motorways: 110 kph/60mph
  • Municipal, state, and federal roads: 90kph/55mph
  • Cities and Urban Areas: 60 kph/40mph

Malaysians drive on the left-hand side of the road.

Nationals of the countries which have reciprocal agreements with Malaysia can apply for a Malaysian driving licence. The UK is one of these countries.
