Citizen Lane

Citizen Lane (a member of the Investment Migration Council) is an international consultancy and law firm dedicated to global citizens, which offers its clients one to one advice, and a bespoke solution for individuals seeking for residency or citizenship through an investment.

The Facts:

More individuals relocate to Germany (apart from to the USA) than anywhere else in the world.

Why?

Germany is financially secure, politically stable, generally tolerant with a rich cultural history, and high quality of life.

The problem:

It is not easy to migrate to Germany, particularly true for non-EU residents.

One option for non-EU residents to become a German resident is to obtain a work permit that allows migration. This is not as simple as it might sound. You will need permission from by the Federal Employment Agency which means your employer, will have to prove that there were no suitably qualified candidates anywhere in the EU or EFTA countries to fill the position. Germany itself has a highly skilled labour force, not to mention workers in the EU and EFTA.

The reality is that migrating to Germany through this route is unlikely.

The solution: Residence through investment

Investors who invest in and own a business that will contribute to the German economy have a much better chance of success. There is a strict process to becoming a resident this way, and you will need and a minimum investment 25,000 euros. (The minimum share capital of a GmbH (LLC)).

The next problem:

Setting up a business in Germany is a step-by-step process and a great deal of paperwork has to be completed, documents provided, and filed with the relevant authorities. There is even more documentation necessary when applying for a residence permit through investment.

The next solution:

Your lawyer or consultant at Citizen Lane has gone through this process many times, and is able to “hold your hand” throughout.

Your next steps:

* Sign our agreement

* Pay a retainer

Citizen Lane will guide you through the process which includes:

Drafting articles of association,

Naming your company,

Drafting an executive agreement and registering the company.

Almost there!

With our help, you will need to:

Open a bank account

Pay in the full company capital,

Appoint a tax advisor/accountant (mandatory)

Apply for a visa for the M.D., who will have to provide his/her credentials including proof of education.

Ensure you have other required documents in place, (the business plan, commercial register, employment agreement, articles of association, company profile, contracts, etc.)

Lastly:

The application for residence permit could take up to three to four months.

Step 1 - you will receive a 90 day visa

Step 2 - during the 90 days you need to convert the visa to a temporary residence permit

Step 3 - Once you receive the visa we will help you with the following

* Residence entry

* Health insurance

* Personal bank account etc.

The Path to Permanent Residency in Germany and Citizenship

Permanent Residency:

An advantage of this path to your permanent residency is, that this allows you already after three years to qualify for for a permanent residence permit in Germany, as long as the company is still trading and financially viable. You will also need to prove you can support your personal financial needs. If you are over 45, you will also need prove that you have enough pension funds or alternative assets.

Citizenship

To become a German citizen, you must have been a legal resident of Germany for at least 8 years, and:

You must be able to prove that you can support your dependents without requiring social assistance.

You must have sufficient German language skills.

You must be of good moral character, which means having no criminal convictions.

You are required to swear an oath to the German constitution, and, in many cases renounce your former citizenship.
